Iran Denies Any Ongoing Talks with US
“No negotiations -- direct or indirect -- have taken place between Iran and the United States so far,” Reza Amiri-Moghaddam said in comments cited by a state-run news agency.
He criticized the United States, accusing it of “betraying diplomacy,” and noted that Iran has continually pursued communication and a peaceful settlement, but has been compelled to respond defensively following the latest escalation.
Amiri-Moghaddam also explained that although “friendly countries” are holding consultations with both parties, these initiatives “do not constitute negotiations” and are instead intended to pave the way for potential dialogue between Tehran and Washington in the future.
According to The New York Times, a 15-point American peace proposal, transmitted through Pakistan, includes measures addressing Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities, along with maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz.
Since Feb. 28, the United States and Israel have continued conducting airstrikes on Iran, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,340 individuals, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military bases. These strikes have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and significant disruptions to global markets and air travel.
